Hello everyone,
I would like to thank everyone that submitted an application for International Projects Chair and District Historian. I received many strong applications, making this a very difficult decision. After receiving and carefully reviewing all applications, my chosen appointees are as follows:

For International Projects Chair, Chloe Atwater, a junior at Berea Community High School in Berea, Kentucky. She has served as secretary, vice president, and president of her home club, as well as the Lieutenant Governor of Division 9. She’s the editor of her school newspaper, and brought some really great ideas to the table. I have no doubt she will do a wonderful job.

For the position of District Historian, Madison Cox, a sophomore at Middlesboro High School in Middlesboro, Kentucky. She has served as club secretary and the Lieutenant Governor of Division 6. She’s an honors student at her high school, and has some really good ideas. I know she’ll do a great job as well.

Congratulations, ladies! I’m confident that both of these ladies will do their jobs well. As I said before, this was not an easy decision, and I wish you all the best in the future!

Yours in service,

Thanks to all the Kentucky-Tennessee District Key Clubs and Kiwanis members who played a part in packing the snack bags for us to use with our clients. The families are really enjoying them, especially the children. It’s like getting a big surprise for them!

We will also be using them with our mobile medical program, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, when the Bradley County Schools return from spring break. So many of the children they see do not get snacks at home and many struggle with food in the household.

Please let everyone know that we appreciate them and their efforts on our behalf!

Best wishes, Jane Kaylor

Dear KT Key Clubbers,

I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season now that most of us are out of school for the holidays. Through reports from your Lieutenants Governors and those you submit yourselves, I have seen the amazing work all of you have been doing the past few months. You truly are making a difference in your home, school, and community. This year’s Fall Rally in October at Dollywood was an extreme success with well over 600 members and advisors registered to attend. It was a personal pleasure getting to interact with the members of the district. As we approach the second half of the year, I want to remind all of you of a few things. First of all, dues became delinquent December 1. Try to be getting these in as soon as possible. Very important is the district convention coming up March 16-18 at the Chattanooga Choo Choo in Chattanooga, TN. For those of you unfamiliar with convention, it is the biggest event of the Key Club year where the entire district gathers for a weekend of fun, learning, leadership training, awards, and a wide array of other activities. Convention mailings were sent out a few weeks ago and should have arrived at your schools. If you need this information feel free to contact myself of your lieutenant governor to receive it. As always, be checking out the monthly updates sent out to your division and trying to attend any divisional events going on in your area. If there is anything I can do to assist you or your club let me know. Have a great holiday break!

Sincerely,
Garrett Holt
KT District Governor

WDEF Television, the CBS affiliate in Chattanooga, Tennessee, recently ran a “What’s Right With our Schools” segment about the impact the newly chartered K-Kids Club at the Chattanooga Valley Elementary School in Flintstone, Georgia, is having on the school and its students.

The Chattanooga Valley K-Kids club is sponsored by the Rossville, Georgia, Kiwanis Club and the Ridgeland High School Key Club. The Ridgeland Key Club is also sponsored by the Rossville Kiwanis Club. Key Club District Treasurer, Laura Boyle has been instrumental in forming the K-Kids Club and, and she works with the K-Kids members at meetings and projects.

The vision for the K-Kids Club came from one of the elementary school students who learned about K-Kids while attending her brother’s End of the Year Key Club Banquet at Ridgeland High School. As a result, she sent a letter asking, “Can we have a K-Kids at our school?”. From there the Kiwanis Club met with school administration, and the K-Kids Club was born.
