The Sullivan North Key Club just completed a tremendous week of service as it hosted numerous events throughout Key Club Week.

The week began with a school wide cleaning spree as members divided into work teams and cleaned teachers’ classrooms. Members cleaned desks, windows, whiteboards, and anything else that needed attention in an effort to show appreciation to our teachers and custodial staff.

The service continued on Tuesday as members attended a pizza social after school (attended by special guest Division 7 LTG Blake Roller) followed immediately by a pinning ceremony for new members and officer installation. Members also celebrated the day with “Bring a Friend to Key Club” at the weekly meeting.

The Raider Key Club members kept up the service on Wednesday by “Showing their ‘K’ in Every Way” and promoting Key Club by wearing club shirts and pins throughout the day.

On Thursday, members visited Preston Place Two (assisted living for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients) and made Thanksgiving crafts including turkey door hangers and scarecrow center pieces. Some members simply visited with the residents and others played board games with them.

The week ended on Friday with special events planned surrounding the football play off game. Included in the day’s events was a volunteer trash pick up after the game was over to assist the custodial staff. Members removed all waste from the bleachers, grounds, and vistor’s stands.

All and all, the Sullivan North Key Club organized and participated in a week filled with activities. The club sponsors received several compliments and positive remarks regarding how active and involved our club is within our school. The recognition was nice, but the service alone was even better!

October 2009 (792 KB)

September 2009 (722 KB)

Some of you may know me and some of you may not, but my name is Anna Nguyen and I am serving as your current 2009-2010 International Trustee. As a trustee it is my job to get you the best and more current resources and information straight from international itself.

Before I became trustee, I once held the positions of lieutenant governor as a sophomore and district governor as a junior of the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District. I also serve as one of the 4 current Key Club Ambassadors to UNICEF. I may have met some of you at International Convention in Dallas, TX, but for the rest of you, I’m looking forward to seeing you at your next board meeting!

I know many of you may be wondering…”why am I NOW getting emails from my international trustee?” Well I was assigned to these districts at the end of July and I apologize for not having email you all sooner but I can assure you that I have been keeping in touch with your AMAZING governors Brandon, Cody, and Keribeth! They’ve been giving me the heads up on what’s going on in your district and what I can do to help.

So in this email you will find two of my newsletters, the October issue and the September issue if you happen to not receive it last month.

**THE INTERNATIONAL UPDATE**:
Later today, I will be flying out to Indianapolis, IN, to meet with the rest of the Key Club International Board, as well as the Kiwanis International Board. I’ve discussed in detail with your governor each of the items on the agendas attached in this email.

If you have any questions or comments about the agendas, please feel free to let me know! I’d be glad to hear what you have to say because I want to represent you and your district to the best potential.

After the board meeting, I will be sending out a list of “Board Buddies” (strictly the board, not adult volunteer advisors). Some people will have one, and some people will have two. I will explain “Board Buddies” when I send out the list on Sunday.

Other than that, that’s all I have to say for myself and for International. If you have any questions about the trustee position (looking to run, finding out what I do in detail, etc.), questions about International, or any questions and comments at all, PLEASE feel free to email me or text me or call me. My number is listed below and you have my email address.

I hope you enjoy my newsletters and I expect to hear some feedback from all of you!

Abigail is from the Kentucky-Tennessee District and will be a senior at Lawrence County High School in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Abigail served as district treasurer her sophomore year and district governor her junior year.

Abigail has many goals for the year. She would like to increase membership and promote recognition of Key Club in every community.

“Making Key Club International a household name would be no small task,” she says. “It would take leadership, unity, teamwork and seizing an abundance of opportunities in outreach through service.”

Abigail enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and exercising.
